books on fire

From July 4 to September 13, you can visit the exhibition ‘Books under fire. in the University of Leuven. In addition to pieces from the Leuven library, which burnt down in 1914, the exhibition also displays ancient manuscripts of Timbuktu (Mali). Relevant works of Belgian artist Sofie Muller explore the same themes. Her installation “Clarysse ‘for example represents a book-free and censored future. The setup refers to “Farenheit 451,” the novel, but also the temperature at which books catch fire.
