Kontrapunt – Edition III: The Politics of Visibility is a group exhibition grounded in the idea of counterpoint, bringing together artistic practices that differ in approach, form, or perspective rather than illustrating a shared aesthetic. Instead of seeking harmony or consensus, the exhibition creates encounters where distinct artistic voices coexist, intersect, and challenge one another. Friction and difference are approached as productive conditions for dialogue and reflection.
This edition focuses on visibility, understood not as a neutral visual condition but as a political one shaped by power. Visibility is produced and regulated through social and institutional structures such as media systems, architecture, borders, and technologies of surveillance. The exhibition asks how visibility functions both as a mechanism of control and as a potential site of resistance.
The works presented explore the intersections of visibility with language, memory, embodiment, and spatial politics, approaching visibility as a contested and continuously negotiated terrain.
Participating artists:
Nástio Mosquito, Mekhitar Garabedian, Carlos Aires, Sofie Muller, and Maryam Najd.
